St. Peter’s in Palgrave has a variety of services on the Sunday and we hope there will be some which will be interesting for you!
In a ‘normal’ month the schedule is as follows (Click here for a current overview of our services!):
1st Sunday 8:00 Holy Communion 10:00 Sunday Club followed by 10:45 Coffee & Cookies 2nd Sunday 11:00 Holy Communion - Common Worship 3rd Sunday 10:00 for 10:15 Palgrave Praise! 4th Sunday 11:00 Morning Prayer only if there is a 5th Sunday Every last Sunday of the month there will be a Benefice Service - somewhere in the Benefice. (See also Palgrave Star or the Event Calendar for details!)
There are two Holy Communion services per month:
On the first Sunday of the month at 8.00 am, following the Book of Common Prayer and is a said service. It is a nice way to start your month in a quiet and contemplative way.
On the second Sunday of the month at 11.00 am, we follow Common Worship and join together in singing hymns, accompanied by the organ.
(Sung) Morning Prayer
On the fourth Sunday of every month – when it isn’t the last Sunday of that month, we join in sung Morning Prayer, following the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. This is also at 11.00 am.
Coffee and Cookies
On the first Sunday we usually have Sunday Club for children aged between 4 and 11, starting at 10.00 am. This is followed by a short, lively contemplation at 10.45 am.
Coffee (with home-made cookies!) is available before and after the service.
On the third Sunday we have Palgrave Praise! at 10.00 am, which is a new informal service, with lots of singing, as well as short pieces of drama to illustrate Bible readings in a lively way. Our ‘band’, consisting of keyboard(s), flute, tenor recorder, saxophone and guitar, will be playing some of the songs. We will sing some well-known hymns and songs, and will also learn some new ones together. Coffee, tea, squash and cookies will be there to welcome you at 10.00 am, and there is also the opportunity to chat over more refreshments afterwards.
